9 Cool Melbourne Rooftop Bars For Media Launches With Disability Access

October 03, 2017

If you're launching a cool product, you'll want to book out a Melbourne rooftop bar to attract the media and enjoy our beautiful city skyline.

But you also need to consider some of your guests such as the writers, bloggers or VIPs, may have disabilities. So why not look at the rooftop bars that they can actually get up to the top easily to enjoy themselves too.

The Corner Hotel, 57 Swan Street, Richmond
Well-known as a live music venue, it also sports a huge rooftop bar with city views, boasting capacity for up to 450 guests who can reach it easily via public transport.

The rooftop bar is accessible via wheelchair and can be accessed via the lift. Cocktail service starts from $20 per head.

The Carlton, Club, 193 Bourke Street, Melbourne

No, it's not the drinks getting to you, there really ARE stuffed animals as part of the decor.

The open air and tropical vibes of The Carlton's  Level 1 balcony beach theme product or garden-related media launch a head start. (Please note any guests with disabilities will need help to get over the step into the balcony.)

Striking by night this is a must-attend for any media type! The Palmz will fit up to 200 guests, with cocktail service starting from $50 per head.

The Emerson, 143 Commercial Road, South Yarra

If your media launch is not Gilligan's Island-style, then you'll love the modern, contemporary style of the The Emerson.

The Emerson has an enclosed indoor section (with much-appreciated heaters if it gets cold) to fit up to 250 guests, and up to 70 guests outside giving you some flexibility if it rains.

Which, of course, in Melbourne it does...

Cocktail service starts from $35 per head.

The Cullen, 164 Commercial Road, South Yarra

Very close to The Emerson is another stunning venue, The Cullen, which is one of Melbourne's best-known stylish designer hotels.

This makes it very handy for media types  to attend your launch if they're flying in from Sydney and beyond.

Hire the Rooftop with its sweeping views for up to 70 guests, and add the adjoining Growler Penthouse to fit another 20 attendees. Cocktail service starts from $60 per head.

Mission Caters Rooftop, 211 Chapel Street, Prahran

It can be easy to forget that some people are doing it tough.

If you'd like to do some good along with your media launch, why not book the bare-bones, ready-to-be-customised function space of the Mission Caters Rooftop, on top of the Prahran Mission building. Prahran Mission offers training and employment to people who haven’t finished their education, or who’ve struggled with mental illness.

The rooftop - one of Melbourne's newest - fits up to 50 guests. Cocktail service starts from $30 per head.

Village Cinemas Rivoli, 200 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East

One rooftop with a difference that also includes disability access is the rooftop Nineteenforty.

Fitting 100 guests, the venue has a delightfully European air to it, and the cinema connection makes it the obvious choice for a movie premiere or Hollywood-related product launch. Cocktail service starts from $55 per head.

The Como Melbourne MGallery by Sofitel Sun Deck, 630 Chapel Street, South Yarra

Like The Cullen, The Como offers upscale, contemporary guest accommodation for your VIP attendees.

While there are nine other function spaces with cocktail capacity ranging from 40-150, its rooftop Sun Deck offers a glamorous-themed retreat from the crowds below, and a fantastic option for an elegant beachwear, homewares or skin care product launch for a crowd of up to 100. Cocktail service from $25 per person.

Young Bloods Diner, 60 Rose Street, Fitzroy

If you're pitching your boutique beer brand, retro item or other hipster product and need an appropriate space to reflect its heritage, you might like to consider the groovy Fitzroy space that is Young Bloods Diner.

The restaurant is run by an ex-Builders Arm chef so the food alone is worth the trip. The Upper Beer Garden may be one of Melbourne's more intimate media launch rooftop spaces, fitting up to 45 guests, with disability access. Cocktail service from $50-$80 per person.

Easey's, 3/48 Easey Street, Collingwood

An equally unique space is Easey's which is a burger joint inside a graffitied train carriage, perched (safely) over a Collingwood gallery.

Fun for trainspotters, burger fans and yes, those hipsters again, Easey's is for those wanting indie-style media exposure. And did I mention, love burgers...Capacity for up to 104 guests, cocktail service is from a very reaonable $17-$29 per person.
